About Lake Greenwood
One of the largest lakes in South Carolina with 11,400 acres of area and 212 miles of stunning forested shoreline, water lovers from far and wide can enjoy a multitude of activities from boating, fishing, hiking, water skiing and more! Spanning the counties of Greenwood, Laurens and Newberry, the lake was formed by a hydroelectric dam called Buzzard's Roost which was built near Chappells SC. between 1935 and 1940.
