Located between the metros of Greenville, SC, Columbia, SC and Augusta, GA and within close proximity to Lake Greenwood, Greenwood, Clinton and Laurens, Chateau Amelia sits on almost 4 acres of beautiful South Carolina grounds. We invite you to make this charming venue the place for an unforgettable experience.
In the summer of 2022, two generations of husband and wife teams stumbled across a property brimming full of potential in a small town called Cross Hill. At that time, 258 N Main Street was known as "Lady Amelia" ... a sign of significance to the four of us. Amelia is the name of owners' Dean and Angela's granddaughter and Jon and Anna's daughter.
A decision to purchase the property was the leap of faith affording us the honor of stewardship and a vow to uphold a piece of the community's history. Since the onset of our journey, we have put so much love and attention to detail into converting what was once a bed & breakfast into a now luxurious wedding and events hall in Upstate South Carolina.
We are grateful to all the local trades people for their industrious work along the way and to all guests who have stepped through our doors. As we continue to refine every nook and cranny as well as sharpen our focus on service offerings, we will always remain in gratitude to everyone who helps to breathe life into this amazing space.
c. 1905-1991: The home was built circa 1905 as a single story structure, belonging to the Dial family for almost 100 years. In 1913, the addition of a second story also came with the inclusion of indoor plumbing works. The gentleman and lady of the household, Conway D. Dial and Annie Laurie Dial lived here along with their 6 children, Eleanor, Emma, Eunice, Albert, Roy and Clara. Conway, a local postmaster and prominent local figure. was also the half brother of the late South Carolina senator Nathaniel B Dial. In order to pay homage to the Dial family, you will see the parlors and various rooms in the home are named after the original Dial family members.
1991-2007: Since the Dial family and before our own family, two other families have enjoyed its ownership. The first, Ms. Billie Kearnes, a generous woman who loved the color pink! Back in the days of her stewardship from the early 1990's to the mid 2000's, Ms. Keranes updated plumbing and electrical as well as expanded the home's footprint by adding an addition to the rear of the ground floor. In future, a memorial garden will be added to the grounds to honor Ms. Kearnes.
2007-2023: Around 2007 and until our purchase in early 2023, the property's French Canadian owners converted the barn into a restaurant and the house into a B&B named Lady Amelia Inn. While we have chosen to use the property differently, the name Amelia in its title continues on thanks to them.
